Arequipa

Well, we then arrived in Arequipa today at about 5 am with no troubles. I was able to sleep on the bus a bit, so that was good. We got to a hotel eventually, we had reserved a hotel the night before, but they wouldn't let us have it till about noon, which was not OK. So, we went to a different one, which turned out to be just fine. It was just getting light out, so I went up to the roof to see El Misti before the smog completely obscured it. It was very nice, but already hard to see. Then we went to sleep some more. We got up about 11, our German friends had already left. Me and Mike went out and saw the main square, and then went in some churches and stuff. Mike was starting to get sick, but he wanted to keep on touring. We went to this monastery, which is about 1 city block. Its a city within a city. Very cool, flowers everywhere, lots of false staircases, tons of great picture opportunities. After that, we went and picked up my laundry, and then I left Mike back at the hostel. He looked pretty bad. I then went off, and saw the Case de Muler or something, the house of the Mulbery tree. It is an old colonial house, lots of neat paintings and sculptures. I went into the main cathedral, it was really nothing special, but it was all very white, and certainly quite big.
Colca Canyon tour tomorrow and the next day, should be fun.
