Cuzco

Well, we made it to Cuzco. We had a 2 or so hour delay at the airport because of bad weather. Apparently, the pilot needs to be able to see so that they don´t run us into a mountain. As a result, I was OK with waiting. While in the airport, I hung out with some Canadian people about our age. We talked about plane crashes and politics, which was pretty interesting. The flight itself was only an hour, and was a little tight for my long legs. I met a cool woman on the plane, she had just graduated and was going to a job interview in Cuzco. She had gone to college in Scotland, so we talked about Europe and all that fun stuff. After the flight, we had prearranged transport to our hostel, so we took that. We got to our hostel, and it was just a door on this big wall. I didn't know what to think. Well, they opened the door to reveal this huge courtyard with flowers and whatnot, it was very impressive looking. The hostess helped us to our room, which is really big and nice. This, of course, costs 6 dollars a night (with breakfast). They immediately served us Coca Tea (cocaine), which was very good. It is supposed to help with altitude sickness. I can´t comment on that yet, but it does numb your mouth quite nicely. Basically, our hostel is awesome and Cuzco seems to kick ass. Everyone is very, very nice. English doesn't seem to be all that common, however. That brings us up to now...
Well, today was awesome. We got up and figured out where our Inca Trail trek guide was at, and then we started looking for it. On the way, we saw a place to transfer compact flash to CD (thanks dad, leaving 80 pictures of Christmas on the card), so we did that. Then, one of my contacts fell out, so I had to go back to change it out. After that, we went back to the Plaza De Armas (main square), and found TOPTreks, our operator. Everything looks great, we have everything we need and are all paid up. We leave early on the 7th. We did have to rent sleeping bags, for 10 bucks for 4 days. They seem very nice. Then we ate at some place next to the sleeping bag place, had soup, pasta and coffee for 2 bucks. Inside, we had a long talk with some English people from Liverpool. They were traveling the world, and had just come from New Zealand. It is awesome to have been to Europe when your travel, because you frequently meet English and Irish folks. After all of that, we found a place offering a City Tour for like 5 bucks. We booked it, and then went out just around the city. I bought a hat, and an alpaca sweater, for like 13 bucks total. We had time to burn before our tour, so we walked up a really long set of stairs and got an awesome view of Cuzco. It was a lot of fun. When we came back down, we seem to have gotten on the wrong tour bus, but I guess they just let us stay. It was the same city tour. They city tour actually consists of more of an Inca sites tour, and it goes up really high in the mountains surrounding Cuzco. We saw lots of Inca sites, including Saqsaywaman, Qéngo, and some others. The views are amazing. After we got back, at about 7pm, we ate at some Pollo (chicken place), it was like 4 bucks for a 1/4 chicken, fries, salad, and a Pisco Sour ( a strong, local mixed drink). After that we walked home. And that brings us up to now.
