Diablo Range

The Diablo Range borders the eastern edge of the Bay Area. It is very sparely populated, with few roads and no cities of any size. It is also quite dry, in contrast to the rather lush Santa Cruz mountains that border the western edge of the Bay Area. Mount Hamilton observatory is the most visible building on the range, and is the reason for the existence of a very curvy road to the top of the mountains. The road is a whole lot of fun to drive, and actually ends up hitting Interstate 5 if you follow it long enough. Once at the top, you will be treated to awesome views of the whole valley, including San Jose, Silicon Valley, and occasionally San Fransisco itself.
