Great Smoky Mountains National Park
I have been able to go to Great Smoky Mountains National Park a couple of times now, most recently in 2004 with my friends Ryan and Mike. We went for about a week during the summer between semesters. We did a bunch of hiking to assorted waterfalls and mountain peaks, and saw a bunch of the historic sites around the area as well.
The park itself is truely quite beautiful, with lots of awesome streams and creeks which are perfect for a little rock hopping. The mountains themselves are quite low, and are much more like the Ozarks in Missouri than the high peaks of the Rocky Mountains or the Sierra Nevadas.
