Panama

While I was in Central America, my first stop was Panama City. This is, in my opinion, the best capital city in Central America. While it still has some pretty questionable parts, it makes up for it by having a long, rich history of Spanish colonial rule as well as American imperialism. There are a number of distinct parts to the city - the REALLY old city, the old city, and the new city. Each has a different flavor and all are worth visiting.

One of the neatest things I saw was the Panama Canal, which is an amazing engineering feat that is truely impressive to see in person. I actually didn't spend a lot of time in Panama, but I did visit a few of the local nature parks and got to see a Jesus Lizard run across the water - which is really awesome!
